1st Shipley Scouts win cooking award

Move over Master Chef, the annual District Campfire Cooking Competition was up for grabs this week. With 12 teams and over 70 scouts taking part in the cooking contest, the judges had a touch decision to make. We’re delighted to announce that the winners were 1st Shipley Scouts who prepared a tasty meal of chicken and chickpea curry, followed by pancakes with a fruit compote.

Held at the Horsham Scouts campsite, the focus for this year’s competition was base don the theme ‘back to basics’. The aim is to successfully create the whole meal on a campfire. Judges were looking for planning, teamwork, hygiene, sustainability and presentation of the meal.

A massive well done to all the participants involved and the judges for making the tough decision. And of course thanks to David and the Scouts team for organising this much-loved event.
