You can join an Explorer Scout unit between the ages of fourteen and eighteen years old. The scouting programme caters more for teenage members by accommodating for exams and other commitments in an adolescent’s life. As well as being more challenging and active. We meet on Fridays in our den at 1st Shipley Scout hut.
Being an Explorer offers teenagers an additional opportunity to develop their skills further and truly challenge themselves both physically and mentally. The scouting experience doesn’t have to stop after you’ve finished Scouts and you can even continue on past Explorers into the Scout Network up to the age of 25, or even start as a young leader.
This older Scouting section allows young people to partake in more mature and ambitious endeavours. 1st Shipley Explorers can expand on their knowledge and abilities, together with developing a more passionate interest in any Scouting activity or even new aspirations they have discovered on their own.
Personal challenge and adventure is the focus of Explorers and units often work together in a district to help each other triumph in their goals, often joining for activities and pushing one another to reach their potentials.
